Aqua Fitness

Here at the Lakota Family YMCA we offer a wide variety of aquatic programs to choose from.  Whether your needs are fitness, recreational, or learning how to swim, we are sure you will be able to find something that meets your needs.

Aqua Aerobics:

Aqua Aerobics is FUN! It is designed for everyone! It is a workout combining a variety of techniques from land aerobics. The workout incorporates flotation devices and is one of the safest ways to get into shape. The water provides support and added resistance to maximize your workout. Buoyancy of water supports 90% of the body. Water workouts can be less stressful on the joints than other types of aerobic activity. It strengthens and tones muscles, in addition to increasing stamina, endurance and improving flexibility. Aqua Aerobics is for all ages. NO swimming skills are necessary to attend these classes. NO fancy shoes or equipment is needed, just a desire to have fun and get into shape!

 H20 Fitness to the MAX:

This low impact/high energy class is taught in the shallow end of the pool. This workout combines muscle strength with extreme cardio. You will gain and improve your flexibility, range of motion, and balance in this high intensity class without putting added stress on your bones and joints. (45 minutes)

AMPED Up H2O Fitness:

This is a challenging total body workout using the natural resistance of the water. This class is high energy that focuses on intense cardio and muscle toning. Amped Up H2O fitness is EASY on the joints, especially the feet, knees, and ankles because there is no bounding in the deep end. This is a full body workout with both cardio and strength training moves. (50 minutes)

Arthrons:

This class is designed for men and women who suffer from the aches and pains of arthritis, immobility, and flexibility problems. This class is co-sponsored by the American Arthritis Foundation and the YMCA, and is taught by a certified instructor.

If Adult Lap Swimming & Water Walking is your preference, we offer a wide variety of times throughout the day.  If you like to swim early, the pool opens at 6:00 am every weekday for lap swim.  We also have time available during lunch time and early afternoon as well as in the evenings.

If Recreational Swimming is your choice, check out the open swim times on our pool schedule.
